Mumbai Maharathi has put together a strong line-up from the player’s draft which was held on January 4, 2019, for the upcoming 4th season of the Pro Wrestling League, 2019 with the shrewd acquisitions of talents such as Sachin Rathi, Deepak Punia, Harphool but their quest for glory will be led by the dynamic Arjuna award winner Vinesh Phogat.
24-year-old Phogat has been in scintillating form over the past few years as showcased by her when she became the first Indian women wrestler to win Gold medals at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Gold Coast respectively, along with gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta bettering her effort from the 2014 Incheon edition where she bagged a bronze medal. Vinesh also has several medals in the Asian Championships most recently winning the silver medal at the 2018 edition held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan where she was beaten by Chinese wrestler Lei Chun.
Vinesh has been a part of the Pro Wrestling League since its inception and this year she will be competing in the 53 Kg category where she will square off against her cousin Ritu Phogat (MP Yodha) and several other experienced and distinguished wrestlers who will try to inflict an upset by beating one of the headline stars coming into the tournament.
The 4th season of the Pro Wrestling League commences on Monday, January 14, 2019, and will conclude with the final on January 31, 2019. The live coverage will begin at 7 PM IST every evening on Sony SIX (English) and Sony TEN3 and Sony WAH (Hindi). The live streaming can be accessed through the Sony LIV app.
